Collect Tender At Station...

This POSitive station feature is used to help you in balancing your cash drawer(s).  Bookkeepers, accountants, managers and others who handle monies without a cash drawer will enjoy the convenience of this feature.

If a POSitive station will be making sales transactions and will be balancing its own cash drawer, the Collect Tender At Station number should match the current station number.

If POSitive is running on a network, this option allows you to process invoices at a station, but assign a different station or cash drawer for keeping the money, checks and credit card slips. Specify the station number where the money will be kept. When the cash drawer of the selected station is balanced, the transactions made at both stations will be included.

POSitive makes handling lottery transactions a dream come true!  Setup special inventory to track the sale of lottery tickets and disbursement of winnings.  You will likely want to make such transactions easy to use and report on.  POSitive has you covered with detailed, easy to understand reports.

Lottery Tickets & Winnings

• Create a Department/Category for lottery
  • This allows you to run reports about lottery sales and payouts separately from any other department or category.
  
• Create inventory item(s) to sell lottery
  • This inventory item should be assigned to the lottery category. This item can be generic and set to Ask for Price for different denominations of tickets.  
  • Consider creating more than one lottery ticket item to reflect each program and actual selling prices.
  
• Create an inventory item to pay out winnings
  • Change the Default Sell Quantity setting to -1.00 (minus one).
  • Activate Item Is Active and Ask for Price which will allow you to enter the value of the awarded winnings.

Shortcut Tip!

• Modify the Invoice Button definitions or activate the POSitive Touch-Screen (Optional) 
  • To save time, you can choose to use invoice buttons or touch-screen buttons for selling and making payouts of lottery tickets rather than having to scan items or manually enter the lottery SKU.

End of Fiscal Year Procedure

Many POSitive users will be ending their fiscal year over the next few months and it’s a good idea to make a special archive backup of your POSitive data and conduct a physical inventory count.

One reason for making an archive backup is to be able to determine stock counts and the value of your inventory at the end of your fiscal year. Because POSitive is a real time software program, changes to your inventory stock counts are ongoing and without an archive backup it is difficult to calculate stock counts on a specific day in the past.
